STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES
WE BELIEVE.................
We
believe that all individuals are endowed with certain inalienable rights, as
well as those specific rights as enumerated in the Bill of Rights, and that the
proper function of government is to protect those rights.
We believe that good
government is based on the individual, that each person’s ability, dignity,
freedom and responsibility must be honored.
We believe in equal rights, equal justice and equal
opportunity for all individuals.
We believe free enterprise and individual initiative and
incentive have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity,
and that a sound economy requires sound government fiscal policy and
responsibility.
We believe that government
should be limited to its constitutional, enumerated powers.
We believe that the most
effective, responsible, and responsive government is government closest to the
people.
We believe we must retain those principles of the past
that have made us strong and free, while developing new and innovative ideas
which will strengthen and build upon our tradition of individual rights and meet
the challenges of changing times.
We believe that Americans value their security and the
national military forces required to maintain peace through strength, while
working to extend peace and freedom and respect for human rights throughout the
world.
Finally, we believe that the Republican Party is the best
vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of
government.
